Devotional: Grace That Offends and Heals
Texts: 2 Kings 5:13–14; Luke 4:27 Naaman was healed not because he was powerful, but because he was willing—eventually—to obey. God chose a foreign commander, an enemy of Israel, and healed him through a simple act of obedience. This alone was surprising.Years later, Jesus reminded His hometown of this very story. In Luke 4:27, He said that though many lepers were in Israel, only Naaman the Syrian was cleansed. The people in Nazareth were offended—not because the miracle wasn’t true, but because grace did not favor who they expected. Let’s not localize God to ourselves, homes, village or churches(God is not your village elder ). Don’t limit God..Faith can be uncomfortable. It confronts pride, entitlement, and the belief that God owes us something. Naaman had to humble himself before healing came. The people of Nazareth refused to humble themselves—and missed the grace standing right in front of them. This devotional reminds us that God’s grace flows where hearts are humble, not where privilege is assumed. Healing, salvation, and transformation come not by status, background, or familiarity with God—but by trust and obedience.Naaman’s story is not just about healing from leprosy—it is about humility, obedience, and grace that refuses to be boxedPrayer:Lord, remove every prideful expectation from my heart. Help me receive Your grace with humility and obedience, even when it challenges my assumptions in Jesus name. Amen.
